Toads

Toads and frogs are beneficial to a garden.
They can each eat up to 1000 bugs a day.
To encourage the use of your toadhouse:

Place your toadhouse in a cool, shady spot. These critters do not like the sun.
Make sure your toadhouse always had an open bottom. Toads and frogs like to burrow in the dirt so it helps to loosen the soil under their house.
Provide good loamy soil. Mulch around the outside to help keep it cool. Place a shallow bowl of water nearby so they can bathe and keep their skin moist. It is necessary!
A light, no higher than 2 feet, placed near their home will help to attract bugs for them to feed on.
Discourage the kids from chasing or handling them. They don't like it. and will go away if this happens.
Minimize the use of chemicals around their area. This can be fatal. Besides, they will kill the bugs!
